Client Spotlight: Autobahn Motorcars 

Autobahn Motorcars has been a Fort Worth institution since 1979 selling luxury vehicles including Volvo, Jaguar, Porsche, Volkswagen, Land Rover, and BMW, as well as certified pre-owned cars. Autobahn is proud of their dedication to building strong client relationships and within the Fort Worth community-at-large. They sponsor the Cowtown Marathon, food drives for Fort Worth’s neediest families, and provide scholarships every year to local students. Autobahn’s commitment to its clients doesn’t stop on the sales floor. They also boast an impressive service department, with dedicated mechanics for each brand.

As Autobahn’s customer and employee needs have evolved, Autobahn recognized that their energy strategy needed a fresh set of eyes as well. They engaged the experts at 5 as a partner to help evaluate energy procurement options and usage analysis.

One of Autobahn’s first concerns was around a proposed project to install air conditioning in all service bays. The sweltering Texas weather coupled with the heat coming from half a dozen performance auto engines led the Autobahn team to critically evaluate the large air conditioning project with assistance from 5. Not only were they concerned with the cost of the project itself, but 5’s energy engineers pointed out that a large increase in electricity usage could cause costly penalties to be assessed by the energy supplier. 5 helped Autobahn procure an electricity contract that allowed for an unlimited increase in usage, allowing the dealerships to add air conditioning to any or all service bays without fear of any costly penalty.

Additionally, 5 helped Autobahn identify power factor penalties and rectify usage anomalies with the local utility that saved thousands of dollars in expenses. 5 has also supported the dealership in their drive to become more sustainable by ensuring their ability to add more load for electric vehicle charging stations.
